Shipping has been our core forte since the inception of the firm and we pride ourselves as being second to none in this sector. We understand the technical issues and that the devil is in the detail so there is no learning curve when we represent you. We are the legal correspondents of the North of England P&I Club and the Amlin Marine (formerly RaetsMarine) fixed premium club. We have been extensively instructed by almost all International Group P& I Club and other fixed premium clubs and are retainers for three of the largest shipping companies in India.

Our maritime lawyers have a sound understanding of how the market works across dry shipping, admiralty and crisis management, and transactional work. We represent the full spectrum of those involved in the industry, including shipowners and charterers, P&I Clubs, banks, international agencies, shipyards, marine insurance underwriters, the various limbs of the Indian government and brokers. We have a large clientele in the Greek, Korean, Singaporean, Chinese and Japanese markets. The matters we handle include charterparties, bills of lading, other carriage contracts, shipbuilding and construction contracts, seafarer employment and personal injury, marine insurance. We have been involved  on virtually every major maritime casualty in India in recent years, so we know how to handle the practical issues on dealing with the Indian maritime administration as we regularly advise them on an entire gamut of issues. This includes work on collisions, salvage, wreck removal, total loss, piracy and terrorism, oil pollution and other environmental damage. Additionally, regularly handle complex personal injury, death compensation claims. In addition, we provide extensiv e advice on the Indian regulations governing the maritime sector, including (but not limited to) various regulations promulgated by the office of the Director General of Shipping (Ministry of Shipping) dealing with various facets of shipping, cabbage regulations, implementation of the Maritime Labor Convention, 2006 in India etc. Our Managing Partner, Mr. Majumdar has played a pivotal role in legislative drafting projects to incorporate various international conventions into Indian law. We have been involved in landmark judgments of Kerala High Court on the maximum compensation which is payable to a fishermen next of kin for loss of life arising out of a maritime casualty.
