Upstream Oil & Gas

We have acted for a number of upstream oil and gas players in a number of exploration and production (E&P) projects. We have previously advised Indian and international oil companies, service contractors, utilities, investors, financiers and insurers.

Based on our commercial knowledge in the industry we are able to think out of the box and provide an innovative solution to the problem. Our Managing Partner, Mr. Majumdar (Raja) has been involved in a project at the Ebok oilfield, Nigeria where our clients Mobile Offshore Production Unit and a Floating Storage and Offtake vessel had been deployed pursuant to a long term contract with a Nigerian company. We have been involved in transactions on behalf of our Indian clients relating to the acquisition of a 3D/2D Seismic Research Vessel and projects relating to its deployment. We have also been involved in constructions disputes on behalf of various types of offshore vessels in with shipyards. We have been involved in arbitrations involving memorandum of understanding relating to the deployment of an FPSO vessel for a tender awarded by ONGC. We have advised a number of shipowners on their entry into the LPG Transportation sector. We were involved in the negotiations of a complex long term contract on behalf of a leading German heavy lift operator in a long term contract source the equipment needs of Jamnagar Refinery of Reliance Industries Limited. We routinely provide advice to a number of our clients on contracts for marketing, sale and shipping of Indonesian coal.

We have been involved in arbitrations and litigations relating on behalf of a foreign clients in arbitrations with a number of Indian public sector undertakings relating to a Joint Operating Agreement and Production Sharing Contract in relation on an onshore oil field at Rajasthan, India. We have been extensively involved in litigations relating to a USD 40 Million supplier and maritime fraud perpetrated by the ex-employees on one of India’s leading energy solutions provider.
